Basok Home Warranty is a Nigeria-based company that offers home warranty plans. We could not find any information about the company online, but after doing some additional research, it has come to our attention that this might be a scam. Here is what we found out about the company based on its website.

Basok Home Warranty offers two coverage plans for homes: the total plan and the basic plan. The total plan includes the following home systems and appliances: air conditioning system, heating system, electrical system, plumbing system, plumbing stoppage, water heater, whirlpool bathtub, refrigerator, oven/range/stove, cooktop, dishwasher, built-in microwave, garbage disposal, clothes washer, clothes dryer, ductwork, garage door opener, and ceiling and exhaust fans. The basic plan, on the other hand, includes all the items from the total plan except clothes washer, clothes dryer, and refrigerator. We do not know whether the basic plan includes air conditioning as there are some inconsistencies on the company website in that regard.

There are additional items that you can include in your coverage plan (for which you have to pay extra), including pool/spa, well pump, sump pump, central vacuum, limited roof leak, septic system, second refrigerator, stand-alone freezer, and septic tank pumping.

Basok Home Warranty covers items that are in good working condition and properly maintained, regardless of their age. The company does not require a home inspection before ordering a home warranty, but it does state that it is a good idea for a customer to inspect his or her home to make sure all items are in good working order. The contract does not cover any known or unknown pre-existing conditions.

The 12-month coverage starts 30 days after you sign the contract and pay the applicable contract fees. When one of the appliances or systems included in your coverage malfunctions or stops working, you need to make a call to the company call center, which is, as the company claims, available 24/7, 365 days a year. You may also submit your claim online.

The company will send a technician to your home to determine what the problem is and fix it for you. You are required to pay a service call fee in the amount of 60 USD, regardless of the actual cost of the repair or replacement of the covered item. This amount is within the industry standard. If a covered item that needs to be replaced is not available, the company will provide a cash payment in the amount of its replacement cost, which may be less than the retail price of the item.

According to the information from the company website, this home warranty provider offers coverage plans worldwide, which seems highly unlikely.

Terms And Conditions

Your coverage is subject to limitations and conditions that are specified in the terms of service agreement available on the company website. Before signing the contract with Basok Home Warranty, it is highly advisable to read the terms and conditions of the warranty. You need to know what exactly is included in the coverage. Even if an appliance or a system is included, it does not necessarily mean your claim will be accepted as the Basok terms of service agreement contains many exclusions. For example, for a built-in microwave, all components and parts are included in your coverage plan except doors, hinges, handles, door glass, lights, interior linings, trays, clocks, shelves, portable or countertop units, arcing, meat probe assemblies, and rotisseries. For every item that is included in your coverage, there is a long list of components and parts that are excluded.

During the coverage period, Basok Home Warranty has the responsibility to arrange for a qualified service contractor to repair or replace the systems and components included in the coverage plan so long as these systems and components become inoperative due to normal wear and tear. The contract does not cover malfunction or improper operation due to rust or corrosion of systems and appliances, collapsed ductwork, and known or unknown pre-existing conditions. Also, your claim may be denied if the breakdown you reported resulted from circumstances such as misuse or abuse, failure to clean or maintain the equipment as specified by the manufacturer, missing parts, structural changes, fire, freezing, and more.

Upon receiving your request for service, the company will contact an authorized technician within two days during normal business hours and four days on weekends and holidays. The technician will contact you to schedule an appointment during normal business hours. In case of an emergency, the company will make “reasonable efforts” to expedite services. It is upon the company to determine what constitutes an emergency. However, if you ask the company to perform non-emergency services outside of normal business hours, you will have to pay additional fees and/or overtime charges.

Customer Service

Basok Home Warranty claims to be committed to providing reliable service to all its customers. As previously stated in our Basok Home Warranty review, the customer support center is available to answer your calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The call center is based in Nigeria. Alternatively, you may contact the company via email or online contact form. As an indication of its responsiveness, while writing this review, we contacted the company via email to get some information about its services but received no answer.

Basok Home Warranty is always in search of independent contractors to expand its contractor network. Quality work, cost effectiveness, professionalism, and responsiveness are the main criteria for choosing new contractors. In order to minimize the waiting time, the company will assign customers to a pre-screened, qualified technician from their local area.
