Basok Home Warranty is a Nigeria-based company that offers home warranty plans. We could not find any information about the company online, but after doing some additional research, it has come to our attention that this might be a scam. Here is what we found out about the company based on its website.
Coverage
There are additional items that you can include in your coverage plan (for which you have to pay extra), including pool/spa, well pump, sump pump, central vacuum, limited roof leak, septic system, second refrigerator, stand-alone freezer, and septic tank pumping.
Basok Home Warranty covers items that are in good working condition and properly maintained, regardless of their age. The company does not require a home inspection before ordering a home warranty, but it does state that it is a good idea for a customer to inspect his or her home to make sure all items are in good working order. The contract does not cover any known or unknown pre-existing conditions.
The 12-month coverage starts 30 days after you sign the contract and pay the applicable contract fees. When one of the appliances or systems included in your coverage malfunctions or stops working, you need to make a call to the company call center, which is, as the company claims, available 24/7, 365 days a year. You may also submit your claim online.
The company will send a technician to your home to determine what the problem is and fix it for you. You are required to pay a service call fee in the amount of 60 USD, regardless of the actual cost of the repair or replacement of the covered item. This amount is within the industry standard. If a covered item that needs to be replaced is not available, the company will provide a cash payment in the amount of its replacement cost, which may be less than the retail price of the item.
According to the information from the company website, this home warranty provider offers coverage plans worldwide, which seems highly unlikely.
Terms And Conditions
During the coverage period, Basok Home Warranty has the responsibility to arrange for a qualified service contractor to repair or replace the systems and components included in the coverage plan so long as these systems and components become inoperative due to normal wear and tear. The contract does not cover malfunction or improper operation due to rust or corrosion of systems and appliances, collapsed ductwork, and known or unknown pre-existing conditions. Also, your claim may be denied if the breakdown you reported resulted from circumstances such as misuse or abuse, failure to clean or maintain the equipment as specified by the manufacturer, missing parts, structural changes, fire, freezing, and more.
Upon receiving your request for service, the company will contact an authorized technician within two days during normal business hours and four days on weekends and holidays. The technician will contact you to schedule an appointment during normal business hours. In case of an emergency, the company will make “reasonable efforts” to expedite services. It is upon the company to determine what constitutes an emergency. However, if you ask the company to perform non-emergency services outside of normal business hours, you will have to pay additional fees and/or overtime charges.
