User reviews of Washington home warranty companies

  • Submitted By Sarah Tucker, Seattle, American Home Shield

AHS has always been very fair to me, although I have one tiny complaint – the customer support is often really horrible. Please fix this!!!

  • Submitted By Alison Boyd, Tacoma, Total Protect

Total really disappointed me last time I called. The customer rep was very rude, the technician was 2 hours late and then they denied my claim because there was a ‘pre-existing condition’ that no one, not even home inspection noticed. I’ve been a faithful customer for years and this is the first time something like this happened. I also hope it’s the last unless they want to see my back.

First Am are the best. They never denied my claim and they are always so incredibly nice, you just feel like someone is really happy to have you as a customer.

My husband has an auto warranty with warranty direct so I persuaded him to also get the home plan. He wasn’t too happy because he likes fixing things around the house, but I just feel better knowing that we can call an expert if something goes wrong. We took the home care plus plan and it’s been a real lifesaver, especially when we had issues with the plumbing. They recognized our problem as an emergency which it was and they sent a technician over immediately. The problem was resolved fairly quickly although the poor tech was soaking wet after he finished with the repairs, poor guy! I hope direct keeps up the good work, for now I only have words of praise for them.

I’ve read so many good things about First American, I’m shocked at how bad they treated me. The customer service is just atrocious, I can’t believe such a big company allows itself to have employees that show zero respect to customers. But that’s not even the worst part! When the technician finally came, after five days, mind you, he just took one look at my dishwasher and said the failure wasn’t covered!!! It’s impossible to know what’s broken unless you even inspect the gooddamn washer! I’m so mad right now I don’t even have the words to describe how I feel! Don’t waste your money on them, seriously!!!
